It’s the most wonderful time, of the year… It’s cookie season! These classic sugar cookies are soft, sweet, and perfectly buttery, making them the ideal treat for any occasion. Whether you’re baking for the holidays, a special event, or simply satisfying a sweet craving, these sugar cookies are easy to make and can be decorated with sprinkles, icing, or enjoyed on their own. I am so excited to share this recipe with you!
For this recipe, you’ll need a standing mixer or a hand mixer. The first step is to allow the butter and egg to come to room temperature and preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
Using a hand mixer or standing mixer, mix the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the vanilla and almond extract as well as the egg and mix well. Add the dry ingredients and combine until a ball has formed.

Divide the dough into two pieces and roll each piece out into a 1/4 to 1/2-inch-thick piece. I like to use two pieces of parchment paper to help get the dough really thin.
Place the dough into the refrigerator and allow it to chill for 15-20 minutes.

Use cookie cutters to cut out the cookies into your desired shape and repeat the process with the remaining dough.

Place the cookies onto a baking sheet and bake at 350 degrees for 8-9 minutes.

Top with your favorite frosting or eat these classic sugar cookies by themselves!
