This chocolate chip banana bread recipe has become a staple in our house, and who doesn’t have extra ripe bananas lying around? This recipe is so simple to make, and it is absolutely delicious. My teenagers ask me to make this at least once per week, and I think it’s because of the secret ingredient… Ok, maybe it isn’t a secret anymore- it’s cinnamon! The cinnamon is totally optional, but I think it is such a warm and comforting addition to this classic dish. Grab a few ripe bananas and let’s get into it!
Start out by preheating your oven to 350 degrees. While the oven is preheating, grab a large mixing bowl and start mashing those bananas.

To the mixing bowl, add the melted butter, egg, vanilla and sugar and stir until combined. Then, gently mix in the flour, baking soda, salt and cinnamon if using and mix well. The final step is to carefully fold in the chocolate chips.

Pour the batter into a greased bread pan and top with extra chocolate chips if desired.

Bake the chocolate chip banana bread at 350 degrees for 55-60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Allow the bread to cool for 5-10 minutes before serving.

Whether you’re baking it for a cozy weekend treat or to use up those ripe bananas on the counter, this Chocolate Chip Banana Bread is sure to become a favorite you’ll make again and again.
