Homemade Pretzels

Homemade Pretzels

I’m back today with a simple recipe for one of my favorite things to make. Homemade Pretzels are one of my son’s favorite things to eat when we go to sporting events, races or the movies, so I knew that I had to create my own recipe, which he absolutely loved. These homemade pretzels are super simple and fun to make. You can serve them with my homemade beer cheese sauce, honey mustard or any other dipping sauce that you choose.

In a large mixing bowl, mix the flour, yeast, warm water, oil, sugar and salt. Mix well and form into a ball.

Cover the dough and let it rise for 1 1/2-2 hours.

Divide the dough into 8 pieces and roll each piece out into a long rope. The longer the rope, the larger the pretzel will be. These make cute mini pretzels as well!

Cross each end of the rope inwards over each other to form that classic pretzel shape.

Allow the dough to rise for another 30 minutes.

While the dough is rising, preheat the oven to 425 degrees and bring a large pot of water to a boil. Add in the 1/3 cup of baking soda and mix well.

Boil each pretzel for 10-15 seconds per side and then place back onto a baking sheet.

Brush each pretzel with the egg white and top with salt if desired. Bake at 425 degrees for 15 minutes.

Serve your homemade pretzels with honey mustard, beer cheese sauce or a dipping sauce of your choice. Enjoy!
