Apple Pie Recipe

Apple Pie Recipe

I’m back today with another delicious recipe for you to try! Today I’m bringing you my coveted Apple Pie recipe. This recipe includes my perfect pie crust recipe and a simple apple filling that will keep your taste buds dancing. Pies are always a labor of love, but this one is SO worth it.

You’ll need a basic pie dish for this recipe. I LOVE this one.

To prepare the pie crust:

You’ll start by slicing the butter into small squares. Optional tip: I like to use my food processor and the shredding function to make it easier.

Add the flour and salt to the butter and combine.

Slowly add the vegetable oil and then the cold water and mix until the dough is just combined.

Form the dough into a ball and wrap in plastic wrap. Place the dough into the fridge for one hour to allow it to chill.

Dive the dough into two equal pieces.

Roll each piece of dough out into a 10-inch circle. Wrap in plastic wrap again and place into the fridge for another 30 minutes to an hour.

To prepare the pie filling:

To a large saucepan, add the apples, water, both kinds of sugar, lemon juice, vanilla cinnamon and nutmeg and bring to a low boil.

Allow the apple mixture to cook for 8-10 minutes.

Mix together the 3 TBSP of water and 3 TBSP of cornstarch then add to the apple mixture.

Stir together and add the mixture to thicken and then cool for 15-20 minutes.

While the mixture is cooling, Preheat the oven to 375 degrees and grease a pie dish with non-stick spray.

Take one of the pieces of pie dough and lay across the pie dish. Carefully press down and secure around the edges leaving about an inch hanging over the side. Prick the dough in several spots using a fork.

Pour in the filling mixture and make sure it is evenly spread.

Take the second piece of pie dough and slice it into 10 even strips.

Create a lattice design by laying 5 pieces across the pie. Lift two pieces and then lay one piece the opposite direction underneath the two top pieces. Lift the remaining three pieces and add another piece the opposite direction. Repeat the process.

Optional- if you choose not to create a lattice design you can lay the second piece of pie crust across the top of the pie. Cut off any excess dough, then using your fingers or a fork, crimp the edges of the dough to seal.
