Homemade pasta is something that I have always wanted to make! Have you ever tried to make your own pasta? It can be a pretty daunting task, but today we’re getting into it!
This is a very versatile pasta dough recipe that can be used to make any kind of pasta that you might want to try. It can be used in spaghetti, fettuccine, rigatoni, ravioli, lasagna, manicotti… you name it!
Let’s get into it.
What you’re going to need:
The first thing you’re going to do is to measure out flour and salt then mix it together. Then Make a well in the center of the flour either on the counter or in a standing mixer.

Using a fork, or using the standing mixer on low, slowly whisk the eggs, adding flour a little bit at a time, Keep mixing until the eggs and flour come together. Keep kneading until you have a sticky but well-formed ball. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and let it rest for at least an hour.

Divide the dough ball into four pieces. Working with one piece at a time, roll the dough out onto a flour covered space into an oval shape, thin enough to send through the pasta machine. Note: If you don’t have a pasta machine, you can roll the dough out and slice it with a sharp knife or pizza cutter in a pinch.
If you are using a pasta machine like mine, I typically run each piece of dough through the sheet tool on the machine twice, until the dough is as thin as I’d like it to be, then I run it through the spaghetti tool or fettuccine tool, depending on the kind of pasta I am making. Be sure the dough is well-floured!

Now it’s time to let the dough dry. I recommend buying a pasta drying rack for this step. Allow the pasta to dry for 45 minutes or so. You can dry it longer if you are not using the pasta immediately.

Bring a pot of salted water to a boil and cook the pasta for 2-4 minutes until al dente. Top your homemade pasta with your favorite pasta sauce or try my Homemade Pasta Sauce and serve.
