Easy Gumbo Recipe

Gumbo Recipe

I’m back today with a classic southern dish, one you may have heard of before. Today I’m sharing a simple and delicious gumbo recipe. Despite how daunting it may seem, it’s not that hard to make. For this recipe, we’re using chicken and andouille sausage, but many people prefer to add shrimp. The great thing about this recipe is that it’s SO easy to adapt to your liking.

Start out by slicing, dicing and mincing the vegetables.

Dice the chicken and slice the sausage and season with Cajun seasoning.

Heat a large pot or Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Add the vegetable oil to the pot and then the flour. Stir to combine. Continue to stir often while the roux cooks over the next 30-45 minutes. Allow the roux to brown, this will give the gumbo its delicious rich flavor.

Add in the vegetables along with the remaining ingredients and stir.

Bring the gumbo to a boil then reduce to a simmer and allow it to cook for 20-30 minutes.
