Homemade Pita Bread

Homemade Pita Bread

Happy Thursday, everyone! I’m so excited to share this recipe with you all. One of my favorite things to pair with Indian recipes or Greek recipes is pita bread, and as it turns out, it’s super easy to make at home. Come along as we dive into just how simple and delicious homemade pita bread can be!

To start out, you’ll need just a few ingredients.

-Flour

-Salt

-Sugar

-Yeast

-Olive Oil

-Water

Once you have gathered the ingredients, you’ll begin by adding the warm water to a bowl along with the yeast, salt and sugar. Mix well and allow it to sit for about 5 minutes to give the yeast time to work its magic. It should look bubbly and beautiful.

Next, add the olive oil and flour and mix well, kneading for about 5-10 minutes until a nice sticky ball has formed.

Add the dough to a bowl and cover with a dish towel and allow the dough to rise for about two hours or until it has doubled in size.

Divide the dough into 8 evenly sized pieces and then roll each piece out to approximately a 6-inch circle. (They don’t have to be perfect!)

Preheat a griddle or large pan to 350 degrees then cook the pita bread for 2-3 minutes per side until puffy and slightly brown.
